In Geneva - In-person workshop opens to humanitarian professionnals and peer supporters


CoCreate Humanity is pleased to welcome Dr Lucia Berdondini in Geneva for its first in-person workshop of the year.


FORMAT

Full-day retreat-style workshop

Duration: Approximately 6.5–7 hours (including breaks and lunch)

Participants: 20–25 humanitarian professionals and peer supporters


AIMS

This immersive retreat offers a protected, reflective space to explore moral injury, ethical distress, and professional limits in humanitarian work. Through co-creative and experiential methods, participants will transform perceived constraints into sources of resilience, moral courage, and renewed meaning.


INDICATIVE SCHEDULE

09:30–10:00 – Arrival, informal welcome, settling into the space

10:00–10:30 – Opening circle and grounding – Gestalt-based awareness exercise and orientation

10:30–11:30 – Naming the Wound – Individual reflection and small-group dialogue on moral injury and limits

11:30–11:45 – Break

11:45–13:00 – Entering the Shadow – Creative exploration of hidden resources using metaphor, drawing, and symbolic objects

13:00–14:00 – Lunch

14:00–15:30 – Harvesting the Gift – Group sharing through creative forms and collective reflection

15:30–15:45 – Break

15:45–16:45 – Carrying it Forward – Translating insights into practical pathways for peer support and practice

16:45–17:15 – Closing circle – Integration, reflections, and closing ritual


METHODOLOGICAL FRAMEWORK

The workshop is inspired by the Future Workshop methodology developed by Robert Jungk (Jungk & Müllert, 1989) and its educational adaptation by Alexander Lommatzsch (2002), integrated with Gestalt therapy principles. The process emphasises co-creation, embodied awareness, and collective meaning-making.

OUR SPEAKER


Dr Lucia Berdondini is an Associate Professor and Gestalt psychotherapist specialising in psychosocial intervention in humanitarian and intercultural contexts. Her work focuses on moral injury, trauma, grief, and wellbeing among humanitarian professionals and displaced populations, particularly in situations of prolonged crisis and systemic constraint. She has extensive experience in qualitative and creative research methodologies and has led and contributed to international projects across conflict and post-conflict settings. Lucia is actively engaged in training, supervision, and the development of co-creative and peer support approaches in the humanitarian sector.
