Reflecting Together on Moral Injury: A Week with Dr Lucia Berdondini in Geneva

On 25 and 26 June 2026, CoCreate Humanity had the privilege of welcoming Dr Lucia Berdondini to Geneva for two events dedicated to moral injury in the humanitarian sector: a public conference and an experiential workshop bringing together humanitarian professionals, peer supporters, researchers, and practitioners.

These two days offered an opportunity to explore a key yet still under-recognised issue in humanitarian work: the clash between personal values and operational realities, and its psychological and ethical impact.

Through dialogue, experiential practices, and collective reflection, participants shared their experiences and explored new perspectives on resilience, ethical distress, and recovery. The co-creative approach helped foster an open space grounded in listening and mutual learning.

We extend our sincere thanks to Dr Lucia Berdondini for her expertise and commitment. These exchanges have laid the foundation for a collaboration we look forward to continuing, to strengthen mental health and peer support in humanitarian settings.
